I pointed out in the Post about the lack of corelation on Share of P&0 between its DY (which is positive)  and  ROE ( which is negative). I sought an explanation on my observation from P&0 management. But so far there is no response from P&0. Can the P&0 help me  on the dilema I face? Thank you. I am long time Investor.

As a long time share investor in this company, I am happy to receive the dividend of DY = 6.38% wich is spread out and paid five times in a year. I wonder why the dividend is spread out and paid 5 times and this just causes a lot of administrative work to the staff. I suggest the company pay the dividend  just twice in a year and reduce the operating costs. Another point I observe is that its DY which is equal to +6.38% but its ROE is negative 1.09%. The question I raised to the company, namely, how is it that the DY is positive at 6.38% but its ROE is negative. The question I raised to the company was that,  How can the company show the Dy as +ve of 6.38% which implies the company is making profits and giving out handsome dividends, but ROE remains negative. I am not an accountant to comprehend the statistics. Can some one come to my assistance to expalin what I have Observed. .

I am very disappointed with Nestle Malaysia (NM) management and/or board of Directors for their lack of response to answer several questions relating to its chance of any announcement relating to bonus or other rewards to long term share holders which are primarily aimed at bringing down the high share price. May i advise NM to delve into this question for an answer.

Also I wish to raise another  question related to what was raised by analyst Koon Tew Yin on 4/3/2019 which related to, his view, " Why is EPF buying NM more often from the market?" As I understand from  Koon's explanation based on his answer was that low PE of NM does not  generally imply that it is a good share to buy. I wonder what is the response of NM to KTY's explanation. Please note my point or view is that my comments/question raised herein carries  no prejudice to any one.

since 2016, the price and dividend are both ging down. before 2018 dividend was 10 cts per share. After 2016 price also has come down . Price on 4/1/2019 is 0.84.

So watch now this share is performing poorly and sell it off at the right time at the right time. BE PREPARED to FACE a good loss in price and dividend paymen. Also note its ROE = 3.84% which indicates very poor performance. BE FULLY PREPARED to face more downard trend in price and dividend payment. .Appreciate comments from Research houses and analysts. What a loss for BAT share price. Many investors affected. I bought about three years ago at RM 60.00 per share. What consoles me is that the divididend but this too has come dowm. For BAT Malaysia to make more profits, there is just one way the new Govt.must pursue a more aggressive positive action to arrest the illegal cigarette sale. Mahathir must take a more strict policy to arrest the illegal sale of cigarette on Malays since they are the ones who smoke heavily from young. Investor.

Comments on returns from share invetments.

Yes without doubt the Nestle share price is the highest;at RM 146.00 today. Its quoted DY=2..83%. Other Financial Ratios are: ROE=74.98%,PE 51.79; NTA= RM3.77.  In 2018 Dividends were paid in May, Sept. and Nov. Total dividends paid three times in 2018 =RM2.75, and this is probably the highest figure  in Bursa. So don't be misguided with the low DY of Nestle at 2.83% which you may say is low when you compare with what you get from bank's FD rate at 3% pa to 4% pa. But this is not a true comparisan. One must always use ROE to compute your return.   In Nestle  the ROE   is high at 74.98% though the Dividend may be small. Remember yr return in Nestle comes from two sectors- appreciation in share price in Nestle and the dividend which may be low. Often investors forget  to consider the two sectors which contribute together to give you a better return.

I shall  attempt to do the compare comparisan for another share like Dutch Lady malaysia..

May I advise other investors to give your comments on the results and conclusion I have made above on computing returns using dividends and ROE.

The current market price of Nestle Malaysia is rather high though the price has maintained its normal fluctuations over the last eight  months. I wonder why the company has not considered to give a bonus or rights issue to bring the price down. Investor of Nestle Malaysia.  Investor in Nestle Malaysia.

I bought BAT at around M 60.00 2 years ago. It pays dividend at around 6.0 % pa the near the highest in Bursa. I am happy that because of the good dividends paid I am able to offset my high buying price. Is there any chance of BAT paying any bonus in the near future? This would then bring down my high buying price.

As long as u have the current management in ICAP there will be no dividend and CITY OF LONDON will keep on buying into ICAP and grow in strength. Finally there may be a real situation when COL will take over the Management of ICAP. This is NOT an idle speculation but  real threat which the current managmeent cannot forsee. Just look at the way COL is accumultating  the ICAP shares. Are u blind? My two friends Leyu and QUah are advised to look into their holdings in ICAP and make a decision. Just look at the ROI of ICAP which is less than 5% and its DY of 0%. I appreciate comments from Ley and Quah. A.David

Blog 13 Feb 2018, 7:00:00 PM

In reviewing the perforance of AmFirst as i recall in early Feb. 2017 by Rusmin Ang he said that AmFirst was sitting on capital losses of 23% and probaly this evetually led to the gradual fall of this share to RM 0.645 yesterday. However because of some positive dividend to shareholders, the overall return became positive. I bought this share some five years ago at Rm0.94 pershare. You can imagine my capiatal loss at its current price. But what keeps me to hold the share so long is because of the reguar steady dividend payments twice per year.
